Since 1976, Mr. Hammerschlag has participated in over thirty parking garage developments and a dozen expert witness assignments. From 1995, Hammerschlag & Co., Inc. has advised developers, institutional and individual real estate owners, investors, lenders, municipalities, real estate attorneys, and managers of real estate assets on a national basis.

Over the past twenty-five years, Mr. Hammerschlag’s role as an investor and acquirer of parking assets has grown. As a result, the company provides asset management of third-party parking operators for the properties under its sponsorship. John W. Hammerschlag

Hammerschlag & Co. President, John W. Hammerschlag, has decades of experience in the parking industry and has built a parking investment and advisory services business that is unique in the industry. He understands the dynamics of the national and local parking markets, the nature of parking competition, and the players involved.  As an expert witness, he has testified in parking matters involving parking economics, parking rate justification, parking development nuances and metrics, and parking asset valuation.

  • 1995 – Present: Launched Hammerschlag & Co., Inc., a parking advisory and consulting firm

​

  • 1992 – 1995: Established Chicago Parking System

    • General partnership between Central Parking System (now SP+), a publicly traded national parking operator, and himself as Managing Partner

    • Grew into profitable business in less than three years

    • Successfully sold partnership interest to Central Parking System in 1995

  • 1976 – 1991: President & COO of General Parking Corporation (now InterPark)

​

  • 1973 – 1976: Commercial Lending Officer at Citibank

​

Mr. Hammerschlag's academic credentials include an MBA from the University of Chicago (1973) and a BSE from the University of Michigan (1970).
